breathwork

Anaïs Pouchain

Each emotion is connected to our breath. If you change your breath, you change its rhythm and the emotion.
Because our breath is both voluntary and involuntary, it is the key to controlling our nervous system.

Illness cannot exist if the body is constantly in a parasympathetic state. The sympathetic phase activates to protect us from what our brain perceives as a threat. Unable to differentiate from reality, fears and phobias transmitted and embedded in our cells are part of these battles. When we understand that everything is interconnected, we can approach our nervous system from a different perspective.

Breathwork (n.) : Breathwork is a New Age term that encompasses various breathing practices in which conscious control of breathing is believed to influence a person’s mental, emotional, or physical state, with a therapeutic effect.

TAKE A DEEP BREATH. YOUR BREATH WILL ALWAYS GUIDE YOU ON THE PATH TO YOUR BIG DREAMS.

S. Oubari

My practice of breathwork encompasses a set of techniques and accompanying skills acquired through theoretical and practical training. As a master hypnologist, I work with states of consciousness and their construction, mental representations, and imagination within the framework of a dynamic approach to individual and systemic subjectivity.

I support cognitive and behavioral change, mobilizing specific motivational and somato-affective resources to enable work oriented toward self-representations. I base my theoretical and practical foundations on various scientific and philosophical approaches, including quantum physics, neuroscience, behaviorism, cognitivism, constructivism, psychology, and linguistics.

USE OF BREATHWORK

And its Benefits

  • Cognitive Pedagogy and Hygiene: Work on managing emotions and other unconscious processes focused on behavioral aspects, mental representations, and information management (fears, stress, anxiety, depression, nervous system balance, trauma release, blockages, intensified emotions).
  • Support for Personal Growth and Adaptability: Work on resources for dealing with life changes (grief, divorce, separation, new job, relocation, lack of creativity).
  • Exploration of Subjectivity: Work on personal and identity construction (introspection, self-awareness, dreams, archetypes).
  • Generational Work and Cellular Memory Realignment: Addressing fears, pain, emotions, regressions, toxin release.
  • Pedagogy and Healthy Living: Work on daily well-being autonomously and responsibly (stress, sleep, pain, deepening breathing, increasing energy, improving digestion, enhancing concentration).

F&Q

hysically: You can expect sensory changes (contractions, temperature changes, cramps, dizziness, nausea, etc.) due to alterations in CO2 levels and pH changes in the body.

Mentally: It’s possible (and normal) for the reptilian part of the brain to try to regain control of the situation. With changes in breathing (hyperventilation), the sympathetic system may perceive the situation as a threat. This aspect is one of the most interesting parts of breathwork because it tests resilience, courage, and determination, ultimately leading to self-esteem and letting go. When you overcome these potential thought patterns, an altered state of consciousness can be reached (triggering the release of happiness hormones, new perspectives, and a complete change in mindset is also possible).

Emotionally: Since the mind doesn’t interfere in the same way, emotions can be released more fluidly and may manifest as crying or laughter.

A healing crisis is a condensed release of symptoms that have been held in the body-soul-mind for some time. After a session, due to realizations on both the conscious and unconscious levels, some people may feel disoriented until all toxins have been fully cleared. To cope with this, it’s important to drink plenty of water, avoid making crucial decisions in the days following, get rest, and view these changes with a new perspective.

Breathwork, due to its intensity (voluntary and controlled hyperventilation), is not suitable for everyone. Those who cannot engage in intense physical activity should not do breathwork. It is also not recommended for pregnant women, individuals who have recently undergone surgery, those with mental or heart-related illnesses. For asthma and other lung-related conditions, it’s highly advisable to seek medical advice.

Tetany occurs during a breathwork session because there is less calcium in the blood while the pH increases (due to the reduced carbon dioxide levels caused by the altered breath). During controlled and voluntary hyperventilation, carbon dioxide is eliminated so rapidly that the body cannot keep up with its production. When returning to nasal and calm breathing, the body can catch up, and tetany dissipates.

Breathwork impacts the sympathetic system when the hypothalamus activates it in phase 4 (active phase of breathing). Hyperventilation triggers a fight-or-flight response in the system (the situation is seen as urgent and vital) because breathing through the mouth is considered abnormal (physiologically). In breathwork, we seek this state to access the parasympathetic system (toward healing).

The parasympathetic system comes into play when the sympathetic system requests recovery (when natural breathing resumes). In this phase, the body can fully relax and begin the work of emotional, physical, or mental release.

A breathwork session revolves around the specific aspect you want to address, working to overcome any obstacles preventing you from being the best version of yourself. During the session, I take the time to listen for as long as you need. I may use various elements to direct the session accordingly. I might also offer a card reading during the session. I intuitively compose a playlist of music for you, which serves as an anchor. After the session, I will send you the playlist and the card via email, allowing you to revisit the session autonomously.

Couple sessions are for any pair looking to deepen their connection with more truth, depth, and meaning. By creating an intimate shared moment (shared breathing), you can go beyond yourself for both self and the other, reinforcing your connection. Ideal for new beginnings, shifting perspectives, experiencing differently, and providing support.

As a guide, my duty is to make you responsible and autonomous through our sessions. I will allow you to observe the changes in your life with kindness. Additionally, I sometimes provide tasks for further improvement. If you wish, you can schedule another appointment in the same manner.

To help you continue implementing what we’ve worked on together, you will also be supported via email after the sessions.

I recommend contacting me by email before the appointment. This way, I can ensure that the request falls within the scope of hypnotherapy and provide a customized session. This initial contact will give you an idea of what hypnotherapy with me is like and allow you to decide whether to continue the work. Sessions are available worldwide via video conference, or in person on specific days at Anaïs’s office in Saujon (17600), near Royan.
